Share the Lane for Amy Wayne was created to honor the memory of Amy. On October 26, 2012 Amy was struck and killed by a car while running in the early hours of the morning. The purpose of the Share the Lane event is to increase awareness for safety of all users of the roadway - runners, walkers, pedestrians, bikers and drivers. The traffic lanes in our community are just not conducive to safety for athletes, and everyone must be aware that they are being used by a variety of active community members.

This year we have chose to honor the children of Heidi Bayer. Heidi was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, and lost her battle just 1 year and 7 months later. Heidi was an amazing woman that lived her life honoring God and taking wonderful care of her husband and children. Heidi's life was greatly tested during her journey of Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, but throughout the entire process she stood firm in her faith and inspired others along the way. She left behind her husband Fritz of 21 years and children Brandon 20, Becky 18 and Annabelle 6. The proceeds raised in the 2nd Annual Share the Lane for Amy Wayne event will be donated to the Bayer family.
